DCUSA Rules and Regulations

Minutes - 11/23/2009

The meeting was called to order by Alan Myers.  The tryouts for the U15-U19 boys team was discussed.  Approximately, 30 young men came to try out.  There is potential for 2 teams.   Todd Curry gave an accounting of our financial records.  Booster clubs have been billed for NCYSA registration, insurance and referee fees.  It was discussed as to how to control our paint inventory.  Scott Semonco, who has his D license is working on some training for rec coaches and challenge coaches.  We are trying to come up with ideas to raise funds to help build fields.  Ed Mahoney talked about the US Soccer Federation grants.  It was also mentioned that some of the local businesses have grants for employees that volunteer time with an organization.  Tryouts are tentatively set for May 24, 25 and 27, 2010.  These dates are to be confirmed hopefully in January with locations to be announced.  There will be a rec tournament in the spring for DCUSA rec teams.  We are looking to do a 3 vs 3 challenge/rec tournament.  Details to be discussed in the near future.  Chris Brown, Scott Semonco and Mark Temple are to get with Alan to set up a "Coach"'s job description and a manuel with a practice plan in order to help all coaches with understanding what is expected of them.  We hope to have apparel for sale on our website in the near future as this will be a fundraiser for our organization.  The DOC's were asked to make sure we had coaches in place for each age bracket for challenge before tryouts.  We, the board, would like to have them interviewed and accepted by the board before tryouts so that when parents come out to tryouts they will know who will be working with their child.  Also, we want to set up a mentoring system where an experienced coach will mentor a new coach for at least one season so the new coach does not feel neglected while he or she is starting the new endeavor.  We need to keep the weather lines and site updated during the season.   Also, for the spring season and into the future, we want all fields monitored with field supervisors for both rec and challenge.  This will give the referees a back up at the fields in case there are any spectator situations.   The next meeting will be on January 26th, 2010 at Beck's Lutheran Church on Becks Church Rd., Lexington.
